Yesterday, I went shopping with my mom and sister. We have to go about 45 minutes to do big shopping because our town is so small, two family grocery markets and a Walmart is about all we have. No craft stores, or clothing stores, but we do have a small antique shop.Well, kind of by accident we stopped to look for something else and happened upon a antique-junque shop...so glad we stopped
I found these wonderful teacups and saucers and some vintage jewelry for crafting projects...
I find it hard to pass up on sparkling bling, I think because it reminds of being little and playing in my Grandma's bottom drawer of costume jewelry...
I love this old trading card framed in this little frame of a seamstress. I want to hang it over my sewing area with my mannequin .
A few odd and ends saucers for crafting.....I had a lot of fun shopping with my mom and sister but have to show you this incredible find
A double sized thirties hand made basket quilt in mint condition...it still has the pencil marks from the quilting lines, unbelievable! Even more unbelievable was the price...I just love quilts they are one of my most favorite collections....I was truly blessed. Hope you have a wonderful week Pinkie
This is where I do my blogging...I have moved my studio into a spare bedroom. It seems like it is taking forever
to get it organized. This is not one of my fortes....
I thought I'd show you a couple picts of my workspace that is organized. I love my new mousepad, a couple of my favorite things roses and sweet children...
These are one of my latest finds. They were only $4 ....but they were very well worn, I laced them with some ribbon and a frill of lace.
One of creations my Mademoiselle's crown....
I just love these vintage crochet hangers another thrift find. I like to hang my vintage clothes on these....
and they're my two favorite colors
Some great glass buttons on a wonderful card and a sweet little girl figurine find a place on my cluttered shelf. I already am looking for more storage....
Aren't these should incredible!?I couldn't leave these when I found them at my favorite thrift store....Black silk pumps with embroidered pink roses! I wish they fit, I'd wear them ooh just too small...
I have collected these cute dolly dresses from the 40's. One is from my husband's Aunt...I want to display them on a clothes line with my dolly clothes pins I found. I could play in my studio all day, just never enough time...Hope you enjoyed the visit and have a great weekend. I am busy getting our R.V ready for our trip to the
Ocean and a Ladies luncheon today....Pinkie
Well, I have been tagged my sweet Myrna at More-than-heirlooms. We are suppose to tell seven random or weird things about ourself, then link back to the person who tagged us and select seven more blogging friends to share about themselves. Here it goes....
1. I love the country, animals, green grass and don't mind getting dirty....
2. I am the oldest of five children, but everyone thinks that I am one of the youngest, go figure.
3. I love working with children at my church and have worked in the school system with the developmentally disabled and handicapped. I am blessed with six beautiful children of my own. Three boys and
three teenage girls. I am accused of being very laid back, and nothing bothers me. ( This is not true) I can let alot go to create.
4. I always dreamed of going to interior design school. I love decorating, decorating magazine, am always change my furniture and moving things around. (This drives my husband crazy)
5. I love the thrill of finding a bargain or treasure. I will not pass anything up even its alittle chipped , broken or worn. My house is home to many castaways.
6. I love the ocean and water, it is so soothing to my soul.
7. I collect antiques and many things, but I would have to say my passion is the love of dolls. I love to sew, paint, dress and collect all types. I especially love dressing them and vintage womens and baby clothing and shoes. Well, I guess I need to pick seven bloggers:
1. Miss Sandy at Quill Cottage
2. Miss Betty at Shesewspecial
3. Miss Niki at Nostalgia at Stone House
4. Miss Lori at Faerie window
5. Miss Susan at Miss Maddies
6. Constance at Rochambeau
7. Donna at the Ribboned Crown
Have a wonderful Day from Pinkie Denise
Well, I am back in the world of blogland! I had my doubts, I moved my studio to a new room and saved the technical stuff for last. My computer connection wasn't strong enough so after sooooo much frustration I had to
have the technician come out to fix it, all is well now I think.... A little bit of evidence that my oldest daughter has made herself at home again. Some of her artwork and a gourd she carved....
Finding room for three girl's wardrobes can be a little difficult. We live in a home built in 1905 and I think back then they did not have as many clothes as we do. My closets are tiny to say the least. Can you tell that Heidi wants to major in Art? Huhmm maybe just a little clue in her dresses and accessories. Her makeshift dressing room for the summer.....I wish I could get away with wearing these! I so love bright colors....
Well, it's very busy at our house, summer is here and my oldest two are home from college. Everyone is excited to have them back home.I sure missed them and we have been catching up. My son has one year left
at UC Merced in Southern California. He was the first class to attend the brand new University. It has been amazing to watch the progress. He's studying Molecular Biology and wants to continue in Genetic Research. He still has a lot of school ahead. My daughter is attending school near home and wants to major in Art. She is busy visiting all her friends and spending time with her sisters.
I wanted to share the rest of my Flea Finds from the Sacramento Faire with you....I love this silk purse, I think it was for hankies and lingerie, I just love the pink roses. Handpainted tea cup salt and pepper shakers for my collection, I collected single salt shakers that are pretty. I have over a hundred and have a rule to never spend over five dollars on them. I will share them sometime. I happen to find a pink beaded flower and crocheted pincushion and an other rose post card...
I love finding vintage jewelry pieces for my dolls and other art...This rhinestone necklace was one of my finds of the day. It doesn't take too much to make me excited....
Another handpainted plate, I want to do some altered art projects with the plates. Porcelain vase, beautiful card, blingy vintage earrings and another hankie holder...
Some more jewelry, couple vases and pretty tea cup, pink rhinestone necklace and millinery feather ....
I didn't find many old photographs, but I loved this one with the family and the girl on grandma's lap. This vase I thought was interesting, oops I was told it was not a vase put a Victorian thing that goes on your mantle, ok it was on the two dollar table!
I just love these...there are two bunches of these beautiful wax flowers. I think they went on wedding veils perhaps....the detail is just wonderful..
Basketful of pretties...
A German luster cup, more cards and I don't know if you can see but this silk ribbon has the most amazing raised velvet roses. As you can see my eye is drawn to pink, roses and handwork. I almost forgot I found some amazing Victorian blouses and a beautiful embroidered baby gown, they need alittle soaking and ironing first. The Sacramento Faire is the second Sunday of every month so worth the trip. I met alot of nice vendors too. I hope to make it back next month, but thats right before we leave for the Ocean so we'll see. Maybe I'll see you there! Pinkie Denise
Early Sunday morning I set off with my antiquing partner and good friend Sheri. Well, we were so excited, it was are first time attending the Sacramento Flea Market Faire. We are only about an hour and half away, but to our dismay we found ourselves lost...after calling home and getting directions we arrived at our destination
It was well worth the trip....I found so many treasure, I am ready to go back...
I found this sweet chalkware pincushions doll and old dolly storybook. I had to show you the pictures inside
they are so wonderful...
There was so much vintage jewelry it was unbelievable. I could be very selective and find some great deals. Lots of linens and wonderful post cards too. I mostly pick the floral ones with roses which are my favorites.
I love this wonderful embroidery pillow, one of my favorite treasures of the day..
I found this small pink satin purse, pretty gloves, couple millinery flowers and pink vintage enameled rhinestone bracelet, and I couldn't leave this sweet handmade pottery basket...
I found this neat old photo album, the woman I got it from said she found it in England...couple more things
I could not pass up...
The inside pages are great..I thought it would be great for altered art because its coming apart...I want to try and repair it though...
I love this Bavarian roses plate I found, you wouldn't believe me if I told you what it cost...it was a steal!
Close up of the roses yummy huh! Oh my oldest Zach just arrived home from college! To be continued....
Happy Tuesday more later Pinkie
Well, I had to stop and think what would be trash to treasure for me? I would have to say almost everything I have someone might have thrown away....I have the knack of finding things that probably no one else wants, or
bringing out the hidden beauty that can't be seen with the naked eye...
These are some of the Nancy Ann Story Book Dolls I bought on ebay. They look pretty bad huh? Well, with a little tlc and fluffing and primping....
I washed, ironed and repaired their clothing...
Here they are ready for their debuit at the Christmas Tea...
When I found this settee down the street in an alley, it was in pieces. The side was off and the back split down the middle and in shreds. Most of my furniture was in sad condition when I found them....
My husband wasn't too happy with me when I drug this chair on to the porch from a yard sale....
He loves it now....He asked me where did you get that from....
I am sorry, I am having fits with typepad right now. These are a couple more of my trash to treasure chairs..
This will be a short post because I am off to a flea market to find more treasures, Happy Sunday Pinkie
Whew, I finally finished....A bunch of kids, chaos and a deadline! My kids are out of school, my daughter came home from college for the summer and a few extra friends and cousins. I do enjoy creating and making things, but sometimes I forget to enjoy the process....finding the balance in chaos....
I joined a group of women who were making Toy Theatres. They are going to put them into a book form.
I can't wait to see everyones creation when they are all completed together...
Well, call me crazy. I am already thinking about creating my next one. It was so much fun and I learned alot
about one of my passions, Costuming and fashion....Happy Wednesday Pinkie
