Time for Tea...

The party is about to begin...
My mother Mary made this gorgeous money tree for the guest of honor Kris, she is our Pastor's wife...
The cooks are busily preparing the most wonderful creations in the kitchen...Our friend Ellen, Mary, and
my sister Rene'
The tables are all set awaiting our guest....I'll show you a few of the tables
 
After ironing, picking flowers, selecting the china and polishing silver we are almost ready...
We did eight tables for the tea party...
 I think this might of been my favorite...
I don't know I really like this one too.... Soon our guest have arrived...
I wanted to take some pictures of the food, well things just got a little busy you know...
I can tell you the menu
Rene' made scones, hot out of the oven. Raspberry and poppy seed with lemon curd...
Next baby greens with feta, pomegranate, nut and pomegranate vinaigrette...
Then a beautiful citrus fruit salad with pink grapefruit, orange, tangerine and a honey lime dressing...
Main course assorted cucumber, chicken salad , egg salad sandwiches, pesto and black olive puff pastry,mini egg souffles....and for dessert she made a couple of delicious Martha Stewart recipes..
Layered chocolate, raspberry and coconut layer cake and lemon bars, yum! I can tell they were so good..
It was so much fun and to see the ladies who had never experienced a tea before...it was just wonderful!
Happy Birthday Kris...

We served over one hundred cups of tea whew...

Busy, Busy and more Busy!

Well, it seems that the New Year has started off with a bang...
We'll be hosting a Tea Party this Saturday for almost 40 ladies....
My mom has been busy, gathering, ironing and washing dishes for the big event. My sister is doing all the food, sandwiches, salads and deserts...
I think I am in trouble, well over my head in paper, lace and valentines...
I thought it would fun to do a Valentines swap and start the year off with creating, well that was before
I decided to open up an antique store and and make many altered art book pages....
Yes, I said open up a shop! An opportunity opened up and we just couldn't pass it up. Timing I don't know? I'll let you know about that later....We have been busy painting and getting the place ready. I have been trying to keep my commitments and I think I will survive..
I finished my swap pages, they were so fun! I wanted to do a little more...Well, I will have to be satisfied with how they turned out. I am happy...more on the shop later. I'll leave you with a few more Valentine pages enjoy Pinkie

Celebrating Love.....

Last year for Valentines Day I founds this Sweet little doll...She is made from dump dolls found in Germany left during the War
I decided to join a creative swap that Dede is hosting...To get inspirated I decided to take out some of my Valentines cards and pink textiles....
I wanted to create a needle point rose for each of my pages, but I am pushed for time....
Here are some of things that will go on to my pages...Antique lace, rose and rhinestone button,Victorian calling cards and old dictionary pages I want to make some hearts out of this gorgeous soft pink velvet and vintage ribbon, I just love this calling card it's one of my favorites

New Things..New Year

My mom and I found a little bit of time the other day for creating....

My mom , Mary is trying her hand at calligraphy.
Well, she said it's easier than it looks...I love the look of all the scrolls and swirls, so elegant.
I decided to join a swap at Dede's and start the New Year off creating. We are to make book pages for an altered art book and do a round robin for Valentines. We can use all forms of art, needle work , paper, sewing, painting, but we must use pink and reds staying with the traditions sweetheart day's colors....
I have always wanted to try embroidering on punched paper as the Victorians did...well it too is easier than it looks. I enjoy relaxing though sitting by the fire.

Well, I took a little break from my project and decided to get my thrift store fix...
I found some silver for another project.

Tiny old medicine bottles , strand of pearls, couple darling golden salts and a rose place card holder...

My most awesome find..an old Victorian photo album in my favorite, two favorite things, pink and roses!
Yeah! It is falling apart and I decided I would use it for an altered art project. I picked it up and found an added bonus... It was filled with old photographs too.
This one I love..it looks like a Civil War Era brides photo...
And this little one, Seva written on the back...I don't think I have the heart to destroy this piece of family
history. It makes me think what is their story? I'd love to find out...
Found a few other treasure I'll share with you later, along with a SURPRISE! Can't wait...I am not good at keeping secrets. Have a wonderful weekend Pinkie
