The weather is beautiful, it's really starting to warm up....going out this morning I snapped a few photos of
my garden in front...
Hollyhock, in vibrant shades of pinks, yellows and reds are peaking out and my foxgloves....
Roses, in all shade of pink, vibrant dark to the palest pink wild rose....
And one lone sweet pea volunteered, oh I just love their sweet scent.....
And this lovely package arrived in the mail from Jenny at Pinkaboo. She was my partner for the Kentucky
Derby Hat Swap....I love it Jenny and as you can see she picked all my favorite colors and it goes perfectly
with all my things. You did a wonderful job Jenny and thank you, this was such a fun swap. I love vintage
hats and clothing and it will go well with my collections....
So pretty and soft...
Last weekend I was planning on going to a big flea market in the Bay Area....because of family obligations I wasn't able to get away. I did go to a couple of yard sales here and I couldn't believe what I found!
A large piece of canvas cloth from maybe a flour sack, so beautiful covered with very old buttons...
They are all arrange by color and so lovingly sew on...they are even marked with whom they belonged to and where they came from. I was so excited I think I was hyperventilating....
This reads gold button from her Granmothers wedding dress 9-2-1875 Wow
Also button from someone named Mary's grandmothers charm string, so amazing to me....also a military button dating from 1876. I'll just show you a couple more of my favorites...
I have been so busy lately I haven't had time to sit and enjoy them, but I will...
There are rows of these beauties, the steels are my favorites...They are Victorian, I can only imagine what garments they adorned, what beautiful fabric they became attached to....Prized to be kept and handed down through passage of time...I so glad they were treasured for many to love....
I believe this large button is carved of jet....when I found the canvas of buttons I hesitantly asked the woman the price....I must have three dollars for that she said, I'll take it!
i did garden pics today too:) LOVE your hollyhocks, i never had luck with those and i think they are SO pretty, esp the ones with double blooms!!! not too lucky with foxglove either, i have one perennial variety that is just poking through the soil, bad news is that i planted three!!! love the derby hat you got from your partner!!!

Hi Denise - I love the shots from your garden - it is soooo hot here (too hot to be sat her blogging...I should be outside gardening again!) My foxgloves aren't as far advanced as yours though - They are such an old fashioned favourite, aren't they?
And that canvas covered in antique buttons is so unusual and what a bargain - I'd have to pay the equivalent for one button in a haberdashery shop!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend,
Niki
