Dolly in the Country...I received this wonderful antique child's book as a birthday gift from my mom and sister Rene'. While vacationing in Monterey this summer they found these treasures and saved them for my Birthday Surprise! And boy was I surprised...
I so love anything to do with dolls...making them, dressing them, collecting them. It doesn't matter if they are old or new...
Inside the book they found a cardboard with the name Eva Senney written in fancy script...I believe this little book must have belong to sweet Eva...
The colorful pictures are so quaint and can't help but make me smile along with the wonderful words and story of dolly...
On the back page in handwritten letters it says" My Little Dollie that I have had since I was four years old given me by Cousin Audrey...The pages are a little worn and tattered signs of being well loved
Oh but the best part is these sweet little ones! They were found together in this box...
The detail on them is amazing. I think they were made by hand out of leather and painted with such care...
Someone fashioned little silk bonnets for each of them and embellished them with little silken flowers...
I am going to make them bodies and dress them in period costumes....I am so excited to complete them...This was a wonderful birthday gift. Do my family know me or what?
I had a wonderful birthday complete with my favorite cherry chip cake my sister made from scratch, it was so yummy, surrounded by loved one and family, I truly had a wonderful blessed day, even if I am getting up there. I told them I am only halfway.....46 more years to go!Pinkie
